Day 1 June 22, 2024

We got up early and went downtown Clive for their pancake breakfast as it was the start of Clive Fest Days.  Then back home to suit up and we pulled out of the garage just before 9 AM. Headed south on the QE2 and just after the Carstairs turn off, the north bound traffic was diverted to the gravel service roads as I guess something was going on further south.  We heard on the 11 AM radio news that it had been that way all night. So are none the wiser three days later. We went on the Stoney in Calgary and about one mile from the Trans Canada there was traffic backed up big time. Lost about half an hour there and continued west at a very slow pace till after the Banff Park gates.  The people who had to get a park pass was half a mile long and 4 lanes wide. We cruised on by and our next stop was in Radium for gas and a chocolate bar. Got to Jim & Patty's about 5PM and the weather was perfect for the whole day. Patty made an awesome ham dinner with all the trimmings.
