July 31, 2020

Got up bright & early before the restaurant at the motel opens, so we packed up and headed for McDonald's on the other side of the river.  After breakfast we headed west towards Dawson Creek. On the way there we crossed the Dunvegan Suspension Bridge.  Started up the Alaska highway to the Kiskatinaw bridge at mile 21.  This is a bridge that Gerry used to travel on back in the 70's when he was truckin the Alaska Highway.
Back to Dawson to the Dairy Queen for lunch.  After lunch we headed to Fox Creek by missing Grande Prairie, as they now have a ring road.
Into Fox Creek by 6 PM and got checked into the Super 8 Motel.  Fox Creek has gone from over 10,000 people, when the oil boom was going, down now to a couple hundred people left.

We woke up to lots of water every where as it rained during the night.  Had breakfast at motel and then headed NW towards Peace River.
We stopped at a resort on Lesser Slave Lake to take pictures and to put our hands in the water.  We continued on to Peace River and the weather is now hot & sunny.  Went to 12' Davis's grave site before heading into down town Peace River.  Then we went site seeing up to Sagitawa look out and got awesome pictures of the Peace & Smokey where they join.  Also went to park across the street from our motel and got to see the statue of 12' Davis.  Had a better supper at the motel restaurant than we did in Red Deer at the Ranch a couple of weeks ago.
The trike is such a treat in these hilly crooked roads that go every where and would not have wanted to tackle this area on two wheels.

July 29, 2020

Today we started our vacation by meeting up with Randy & Teri in Mirror for lunch.  About 2:30 we headed north on Hwy 21.  After discarding the GPS we stopped and looked at a real map.  Hence we found our way to Athabasca.  Got checked into the Athabasca Lodge Motel. Very nice room and super friendly host who recommended the 49th Street Grill.  Awesome food & service.  Afterwards we headed out to do some site seeing.  Crossed over the Athabasca river to the Centennial Park across from main street. Then we stopped at the park down town beside the river which was partially under water 2 weeks ago.
Pictures not able to load today
