Day 8
Dec 16

Last night we had an early night as the time change jet lag is catching up to us.  Had supper at Boston Pizza last night and then before we left Brandon we had the hotel continental breakfast before hitting the road this morning.  Got into Medicine Hat and tried getting the outfit washed up and looking half decent.  Checked into the Heritage in Brooks for the night.

Saturday, December 15, 2018

On the road at 6:30 am from our motel at Kaministiquia(try pronouncing that) and proceeded to the Upsala truck stop for a tasty breakfast. After enjoying bacon and eggs, it's back to truckin on wet but clear and smooth roads. They pour salt on the roads even when the sun is shining and the road is bare. We seen them doing it this morning. There were trucks pulled over in various spots adding washer fluid. We went trough 3 gallons in Ontario. After seeing 1765 moose signs, there they were, three moose at the side of the road. These roads are narrow so we were in close proximity to them. However, we  made good time in spite of the 90 km speed limit probably to conserve energy. we ran 12 over like everyone else and didn't suffer any consequences till a half hour into Manitoba. What a poor excuse for a highway and it's the trans Canada. It was horrible till west of Portage where it became fair. We pulled in to Brandon at 5:30 and are holed up in a Motel 6, ready to walk over to Boston Pizza for a hearty supper. Early to bed and back to work tomorrow.

Day 6 Dec 14

Got going about 7 AM and had an awesome breakfast at the Train Station Restaurant in Cochrane ON before we headed west. Hit some rain & snow on the way to Thunder Bay only to have the GPS take us downtown Thunder Bay and on very narrow streets to find a hotel/motel.  But we finally got ourselves back on track and got a room at the Timberland Lodge in Kaministiquia ON which is about 40 minutes west of Thunder Bay. We Saw 3 wrecks and one was a bad one involving two semis.
We also saw a large grain ship on Lake Superior.
All traveling and no stops for pictures.  The truck is big and this is strictly a business trip.

Day 5 Dec 13

The morning started with Gerry walking a good block to the Green Foods parking lot where the truck was parked to get it started and warmed up.  Back to motel for continental breakfast.  Then we both walked with the bags to the truck and once we got out of west Ottawa we were headed for North Bay.  Had lunch, fueled truck, put on new wiper blades then we headed for Cochrane.  Got booked into the Thrift Lodge and walked about 200 feet to the restaurant for a light supper.
Another days of no pictures. LOL

Day 4 Dec 12
We left Edmundston NB at 7AM. Road a bit dicey for the first hour.  We bi-passed Quebec City.  Saw the St Lawrence River.  It took us 1 hour to get thru Montreal on the Bi-pass road.  Then it was off to Ottawa where it took 1 hour & 10 minutes on the Bi-pass road.  Traffic was even worse than the Deerfoot in rush hour.  Had wind shield wiper problems.  Fixed them the best we could till later. Then going thru Ottawa on the bi-pass road it took 1 hour & 10 minutes to go 16 KMs.  Got a room at the Comfort Inn west of Ottawa.  Gerry had to park the unit at the Green Foods parking lot for the nite
We went to the Mandarin for smog.  Was very good but pricey!!!!!!
Now Gerry will worry about the truck all night as it might be pretty cold in the morning.
Day 4 Dec 12

We left Edmundston NB at 7AM. We Bi-passed Quebec City.  Saw the St Lawrence River. It took us  over 1 hour to get thru Montreal on the Bi-pass road.  Wind shield wiper problems.  Then it was off to Ottawa which took 1 hour & 10 minutes on the bi-pass road.  It was even worse than the Deerfoot during the rush hour. Got into the Comfort Inn west of Ottawa.  Gerry has truck parked in the Foods Green parking lot up the street.  We went to the Mandarin Restaurant for smorg.  Even better than the Phoenix in Red Deer, but pricey!!!!  The waiter knew Jason Kenny from his position as Immigration Minister and wanted to know if we thought that he would win the election over Notley.
Now Gerry will worry about the truck all night as it is to go down to -12C.

Sept 13

Good thing that we went last week for our trip as this is what we woke up to this morning

Sunday, September 9, 2018

Sept. 9

After breakfast back in Nakusp we headed for the Balfor Ferry and along the way we came upon an old silver mining town called Sandon.  The whole town is a museum so we got some pictures there as well.  Then it was off to Creston where we stopped at the DQ for a small lunch.  Stopped for the night in Blairmore.  Went for Chinese for supper.

Sept 8

After breakfast at Husky House we went up the hill to the gondola and took the ride up so that we could get onto the Pipe ride and come down the hill screaming. LOL  Gerry really liked it, but I was a wee bit scared.  I kept saying whoo baby all the way down the hill and was on the brake pretty much all the way down.  Gerry was at the bottom waiting for me to come in and he said that it took me forever to show up.
After we got our pictures of the event we headed for Revelstoke National Park.  After we got parked we happen to get a ride with a park person to where the bus to go up to the Fire Lookout Tower was and we came across a young grizzly.  Watched him for a while as the park ranger was telling people to get back in their vehicles and get out of sight.
It was a fairly steep climb up, but I made it with my knee not hurting too awfully much.
On our way back we decided to go up to the Revelstoke Dam (was closed) but we got to get a lot of pictures at the Logging Museum. Got some good pictures of the dam
(Pictures to come after we get home).
We decided to turn south and cross the Galena Ferry and head for Nakusp.  No room available in town but the gal at the last motel hooked us up with a log cabin about 3 miles south of town at O'Brians on the Lake.  Very nice cabin.

Sept 6

We left home at 10 AM and headed towards Jasper.  Stopped for lunch in Hinton at the Esso Truck Stop.  Next stop was Miette Hot Springs for a soak in the hot springs.  After an hour soak we were limp. LOL  Proceeded to the town of Jasper where there were several high priced but we got a fairly cheap one for just under $300.00 taxes in.  Got settled in then since we are in the upper class we took a cab to down town and went to several of the shops till we found an ice cream shop.  Delicious!
Tomorrow we are going to take the sky tram see how scared I (Anne) can get. LOL

Sept 7

Today started off with a smorg breakfast at the restaurant located in the parking lot of the motel we were at last nite.  Went to leave and no car keys.  Gerry some how has either lost them or misplaced them.  Good thing that he had me bring my set or we would be bussing it home. LOL
Up to the parking lot for the Tram.  Got an awesome ride to the top and got lots of pictures (if only we could get them to up load onto the computer) and spent about 40 minutes at the top. Awesome ride going back down then it was off down highway 93 towards Columbia Ice Fields.
Got tickets to go on the bus to the glass walk about. $70.00 later we were walking on the glass floor. No problems at all.  Awesome view.  If we would have been able to get tickets for the Ice Field tour we would still be there till after dark.  That is how far backed up they are, so we decided to header south to the Trans Canada Highway and went west to Golden.  At the Rondo Motel then we went to the Husky House for supper.

July 20, 2018.

We made it back to Canada, Milk River Alberta to be exact. Our rally was a resounding success. We had 117 souls for the banquet yesterday and it was delicious and BIG!! I may not have to eat again for as long as I live LOL. A day has gone by and I'm still full. Neither Annie or I won one of four fifty fifties plus we struck out on the door prizes this time around but we won three at the previous rally over in Sandpoint Idaho. There was a set of triplets who won five fifty fifties so I guess it was their turn.

July 13, 2018

Holidays! Hurray!! Headed out this morning and got as far as Nanton and met up with Rod & Bob at the Museum.  Awesome private tour so to speak as Rod was an aircraft mechanic for 45+ years and one of the Snowbirds in the museum was one that he flew.

Then is was off to Claresholm for the night of visiting until Dianne came and picked up Bob to go back to Lethbridge

July 14

Headed out from Claresholm and south we went.  Some construction thru the Blood Band Reserve before we hit rain just north of Cardston.  Got to the Peigan MT border crossing and waited for a long time to get into the USA.  Had lunch in St Mary's then headed over the Going to the Sun road.  Rain in West Glacier, foggy at the top of the pass and then sun shine down about one mile and finally hot weather.

July 15

After breakfast at the Owl's Nest

Gerry's small truck driving breakfast LOL

July 16

After breakfast we headed for the Army & Navy store.  Not like they used to be, so back to the rally and visited with all our old UMCI friends and vegetated for the rest of the day. Very hot day 100 degrees F.

July 17

After a banana bread breakfast a group of us headed for Polson at the bottom end of the Flat Head Lake and visited the American Museum which after 4 hours it seemed that we would never see the end, so headed back for camp.

More pictures later when computer is recharged. Sorry
Goodnite

June 15

Gorgeous day again so off we went south for the Alberta 500 being held at Marg & Rick's place in Kirkcaldy.  We arrived about 3ish and got set up on the concrete by the door.   Being on the payment I would not need my cane to go into the hall. Rick & Marg put on an awesome chilli supper with all the trimmings.

Friday nite supper

Saturday started off with Rick cooking up a breakfast for a group of lumber jacks who were hungry.

Marg taking more food out of the oven while Karl & Ron  waiting for the eggs.

Visited & played cards on & off all day.  More people started arriving for the banquet & visiting.

Rick trying on Spock's ears he won as a door prize

Sunday was a much better day and more food, and more food, and more food. LOL
A good time was had by all and we were headed for home by 3ish.

June 6

What a beautiful day for a ride, so off we left for a few days and started our trip off with a visit with Mary in Olds before heading to Peter & Nellies in Cochrane for the night.  Had a very nice visit at their new home.  Quite a change from the log house in Edson.

June 7

Next morning after breakfast we headed for the Banff/Jasper highway.  After fuel in Canmore we headed west to the Radium Highway and headed for Cranbrook, BC.  About 10 miles out of Radium we came across a momma grizzly bear and her two cubs.  They looked to be last years cubs.  While we were having a subway sandwich in Radium there were lots of sheep around, at least 20-30 of them. Got to Pat & Dotty's in time for a short visit before Pat & Gerry took off for the golf course lounge at it was boys nite out.  Dotty & I joined the guys later for supper with our friends.

Dotty's beautiful front flower garden

June 8

We headed west then south and crossed into the USA at Kingsgate, BC.
Got to Rally site in Sandpoint, ID and got set up.  Lots of people there already.  Had good visits with our friends. There was a pot luck dinner that night so we went to the store and got potato salad, etc for our contribution to the pot luck.  Awesome supper.

June 8

We woke up to rain and it rained on & off all day and there was a cold wind that came with the rain. Yuck!  Had cold day sitting/standing round a picnic shelter.  For the banquet was able to get inside one of the buildings which was so much warmer & better for us all.  About 88 of us all together.

Anne & Ducky saying there goodbyes

June 9

Gerry & I were up at 5:45 so we broke camp and was on the road by 6Am.  We stopped at 3-Mile for breakfast & fuel before heading for the border. It was cold out.
Once we got thru the border we ran into rain just west of the Fernie tunnel and had rain all the way to almost Sparwood.  Finally dry payment.  Got fuel in Blairmore then headed north on highway 22.  Wind & more wind.  Stopped in Cochrane for fuel then headed north some more.  Got north of Cremona then more rain and this time is rained all the way home.  We stopped in Lacombe at Tim Hortons for  hot bowl of chilli & a hot chocolate before heading the last 12 miles to home.
What miserable time with the horrible weather.

June 10

We were vegetables all day.  Went from the bed to the couch and back again. LOL

June 3, 2018

We are back again this summer, so follow us in our travels.  Today we rode to 2 Wheeled Sunday in Calgary.  They have a much better spot than before.  Room for many more venders and parking.
Ran into some of the guys we see at bike nite in Lacombe.  Also got to see Dallas & Mike from Lethbridge

Then we got some pictures of the various bikes there on display.

They say diamonds are a girls best friend, so how about a bike with diamonds?

If my knee would bend I was going to sit on this little puppy

Now I was really scared when this monster arrived on the scene.  Real scary!!!

This is the only picture I got of Gerry with the guys

We put a total of 380 KMs or 240 miles on round trip. It was a warm beautiful ride both ways even though there was a SE wind. Home by 4PM
